Another meeting this time with the Social Services to obtain this elusive funding the government has ring fenced, l say ring fenced l suppose l should say corralled. So to qualify for this so-called CHC the person has to be at deaths door!
Now this person is 90 years old, has more wrong with her than any person ever should have, the words back from these Social Workers ,sorry proper title "Adult Social Care Providers " was
"We need to fill in a questionnaire and if you score more A's than B's and get at least 5 of B's and 3 A's then she may qualify"
This is so-called "Care In The Community" spoken and not applied, there is a need to add the word compassion, that is a word that needs showing, not saying ,writing or even promising!
So Adult Social Care provider adds up the A's, B's and says you can go to the next stage - submission of the questionnaire. Within 2 days l get a phone call saying it has been submitted, and in two weeks l will get another phone call, to tell me the next stage!
All the time this is going on the person who they are accessing, is looking confused and l try to imagine what this meeting would be like for a person with dementia. As questions to someone with dementia to complete this form, would simply elicit either a yes or no! There condition does not allow a simple conversation, as they rarely know what day of the week it is, so completing a complicated questionnaire is impossible. Everyone with this type of condition needs to have an advocate present at all times, all the Adult Social Team say, is its just a chat! Even though this is a persons funding for their health care is on the line, so many many times people do not get adequate funds, they really need!
This happens everyday l am told by so many people, no wonder they do not qualify for this pot of money, paid by their husbands hard earned tax, or NI contributions!
It is not their money as l try to say so often, but hers, his and theirs ,without her or him you would not even have a job!
