Care In The Community – Needs More Care - If They Have Dementia!

Another meeting this time with the Social Services to obtain this elusive funding the government has ring fenced, l say ring fenced l suppose l should say corralled. So to qualify for this so-called CHC the person has to be at deaths door!

Now this person is 90 years old, has more wrong with her than any person ever should have, the words back from these Social Workers ,sorry proper title "Adult Social Care Providers " was
"We need to fill in a questionnaire and if you score more A's than B's  and get at least 5 of B's and 3 A's then she may qualify"

This is so-called "Care In The Community" spoken and not applied, there is a need to add the word compassion, that is a word that needs showing, not saying ,writing or even promising!

So Adult Social Care provider adds up the A's, B's and says you can go to the next stage - submission of the questionnaire. Within 2 days l get a phone call saying it has been submitted, and in two weeks l will get another phone call, to tell me the next stage!

All the time this is going on the person who they are accessing, is looking confused and l try to imagine what this meeting would be like for a person with dementia. As questions to someone with dementia to complete this form, would simply elicit either a yes or no! There condition does not allow a simple conversation, as they rarely know what day of the week it is, so completing a complicated questionnaire is impossible. Everyone with this type of condition needs to have an advocate present at all times, all the Adult Social Team say, is its just a chat! Even though this is a persons funding for their health care is on the line, so many many times people do not get adequate funds, they really need!

This happens everyday l am told by so many people, no wonder they do not qualify for this pot of money, paid by their husbands hard earned tax, or NI contributions!

It is not their money as l try to say so often, but hers, his and theirs ,without her or him you would not even have a job!

The State And The Development Of Social Services

It is now recognised that the development of state social services in Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries did not eliminate the voluntary sector.
During the first couple of centuries, children were being sent as indentured servants to Virginia and other American colonies, some as convicted criminals, and others were later transported to the penal colonies in Australia.
At the peak of activities over 50 charitable organisations were involved in child (or juvenile) migration. Some were solely dedicated to the collection and despatch of orphaned or neglected children. One early practitioner was the philanthropist Captain Edward Brenton, whose Children's Friend Society sent over 1,150 youngsters mainly to the Cape between 1832 and 1841 (G. Blackburn, The Children's Friend Society: Juvenile Emigrants to Western Australia, South Africa and Canada 1834-42, Northbridge, 1993).

Michael Gove: I'm ending this scandal over children's care

That is why I have fought to make it easier to take children in need into care. We should evacuate them from homes where they are being abused and neglected.  I am glad the changes we have made to the adoption system mean more children are now being placed – permanently – with loving families.  By Michael Gove on 12 Sep 2013, source The Telegraph.
A chilling and scary statement, which may send shivers down some peoples spine.

WELFARE PRINCIPLE

The welfare principle was strengthened in the children Act 1989. The principle developed in case law and emerged in statute as a by product of a struggle to equalise the position of mothers and fathers in relation to the guardianship of their children.
The welfare principle has come to be known in one form or another to many national legal system and has important analogues in diverse cultural, religious and other traditions" (Alston, 1996)
All actions concerning children, whether undertaken by courts of law, the best interests of the child  shall be o primary consideration (UN General Assembly res 45/118, 1989).
Thus the pervasive nature of welfare and the consequent difficulty of getting beyond this paradigm must be recognised (CULL & ROCHE THE LAW AND SOCIAL WORK, 2001.)

I believe that keeping silent when an injustice is taking place is condoning it.

The Latest Fluoride Scam

The Latest Fluoride Scam

Dear Reader,

You're lying in the dentist chair, with fingers in your mouth and all kinds of things sucking and drilling.

Let's face it, it's hardly a place to start up a conversation. In fact, it would be near impossible.

That's how they catch you with a sneaky technique that dentists use to beef up their cash flow these days.

Hard to say 'No'

As it stands, going to the dentist is a costly exercise, so the last thing you need is a dangerous treatment with no benefits.

I'm talking about fluoride treatment.

It's appropriate that the journal American Chemical Society published this latest fluoride study. After all, this latest fluoride treatment isn't about dental health. It's just a scam to sell tons of fluoride.

Fluoride is a natural mineral. But the fluoride they put in water is a by-product of the fertilizer industry. Decades ago, someone got the bright idea to add unusable fluoride to our water supplies. They hyped it as healthy, and a trusting public bought it.

That's why it's in our tap water. It's in our toothpaste. It's even in some bottled waters. Now, your dentist wants to pile on another pointless layer.

If you manage to decline your dentist's fluoride treatment, he might mention this study. If he does, he'll tell you that it proves that fluoride prevents bacteria from sticking to your teeth.

What he won't mention is that the study didn't even use real teeth... they used false teeth. So what the study really proves is that fluoride prevents bacteria from sticking to synthetic resin, acrylic and porcelain. Once you've highlighted this to your dentist, you can also tell him about the many other downsides of fluoride.

As I've mentioned before, excess fluoride causes dental fluorosis. That's a discolouration of teeth. But it can also cause teeth to pit and crumble. The US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) actually admits that about 40 per cent of US children have some level of dental fluorosis.

That's insanely ironic! They put stuff in your water to protect your teeth. But you can't control the dose and an overdose might ruin your teeth.

But that's not even the worst of it.

Recently, Harvard researchers examined more than two dozen trials that studied cognitive function in children and fluoride exposure. Results show that children who live in high fluoride areas have significantly lower IQ scores than children in low fluoride areas.

Nobody should be surprised. Animal studies already suggest fluoride might be neurotoxic.

It's pure junk! Any scant benefit is no more useful to you than standard dental hygiene.

If your dentist suggests fluoride treatment, take a cue from France, Italy, Israel, Japan, Holland, Sweden, China, Austria, Germany, and other countries. They all decided not to put fluoride in their water supplies.

Tell your dentist you don't need it either.

Climate Report Emphasizes Urgency - For Immediate Action

Bangkok is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city, home to more than eight million people. However, a new report released by the World Bank today paints a grim picture for the Thai capital. It notes that, without adaptation, a predicted 15cm sea-level rise by the 2030s coupled with extreme rainfall events could inundate 40% of the Thai capital and almost 70% of Bangkok by the 2080s. While I certainly hope it doesn't happen, words cannot describe the impact this would have on the lives and livelihoods of people residing in this city.  And Thailand isn't the only country that could be affected by rising temperatures.

New Climate Report Emphasizes Urgency

The report - Turn Down the Heat:  Climate Extremes, Regional Impacts, and the Case for Resilience - was commissioned by the World Bank's Global Expert Team on Climate Change Adaptation and prepared by a team of scientists at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Climate Analytics. It looks at the latest peer-reviewed science and with the aid of advanced computer simulations looks at the likely impacts of present day (0.8°C), 2°C, and 4°C warming across three regions – Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and South East Asia. It focuses on the lives and livelihoods of people in the developing world by analyzing the risks to agriculture and food security in sub-Saharan Africa; the rise in sea-level, bleaching of coral reefs and their impact on coastal communities in South East Asia; and the impact of fluctuating rainfall patterns on food production in South Asia. The poor and the vulnerable are the ones that will be most affected by the impacts of climate change.

Agribusiness is in a mad rush to take over the earth, and seems willing to stop at nothing. Coming soon is cabbage with scorpion poison engineered in every cell. Of course, they claim it's safe and will result in less pesticide use, but history and logic say otherwise. Who will wake from the insane mating between Agribiz and GMOs?

Get ready for genetically engineered cabbages that come complete with their own scorpion poison, just for you to eat. It's touted as requiring less pesticide use and being, of course, completely safe. Close investigation, though, indicates that neither claim is likely true.

A pesticide made with scorpion poison genetically engineered into a virus was first tested back in 1994. Interestingly, the scientists who sprayed the test field wore full body suits to protect them from this "harmless" poison. One must wonder at just how safe it could be when the developers themselves don't trust it more than that! Of course, the head of the trial, Professor David Bishop, insisted that the trial was safe—though he himself opted to take a vacation, rather than be there for it.

In the newer incarnation of scorpion poison genetic engineering, genes from the scorpion, Androctonus australus hector, for production of poison are being genetically engineered into cabbages. The goal is to produce them for public consumption. With the FDA's history of rubberstamp approvals for genetically modified crops, it seems unlikely that anything will interfere with their production and entry into a supermarket near you.
